How to Add Plants
Add soil to assembled SkyPot.
1. Set down your assembled hanging pot on a flat surface. If it tips over, then set it on a sturdy coffee mug, bowl or another pot while planting. Choose soil according to your plant’s needs.
Note: Always use potting soil. Never use "garden soil" for potted plants since it contains clay and will slow drainage.
2. Add about one inch of soil to bottom of pot. Don’t worry, the dirt will not clog the holes.
Place your plants.
3. Remove plant(s) from nursery container(s). Massage root ball with hands to encourage new growth.
4. For large plants, poke rod up through the loosened root ball or gently part the root ball on one side and place in pot around rod.
For smaller plant arrangements, add plants around the sides of the rod.
Wiggle the rod up through the root ball. Be careful not to damage the roots. If you break a few roots, don't worry, they are likely to grow back.
You can arrange smaller plants around the rods.
Level out the soil and water.
5. Top off with soil to fill air gaps leaving 1/2” to 1” of space below rim to minimize runoff during watering.
6. Water your plant to level out soil and fully moisten the rootball and new soil. Add more soil if necessary.
