Choosing Your Pots

SkyPots hanger kits let you hang just about any pot with a center drain hole.

Get Creative!

Create your own look by choosing your own clay or ceramic pots.

Many styles and colors are available at your local nursery, garden center or online. We also carry a selection of glazed cylinder pots.

Most importantly, make sure each pot has a flat bottom and a drain hole that’s near center.

Size your pots with your kit size.

For Small Kits and Medium Kits

We recommend pots that are 4-10” wide by 4-6″ deep.

7”+ taller pots can be used but may not allow enough room
for plants to grow in the arrangement.

Our favorite to use are 6-9″ "Azalea sytle" pots
which should be readily available at your local nursery or garden center.

For Large Kits

For 24″ Large Kits, we recommend pots that are 6-14″ wide by
6-10″ deep.

Large terracotta pots make great replacements for hanging
baskets.

Choose your shape .

Tall pots can reduce the upright growing room for your
plants between your pots.

We recommend choosing shorter pots that will look more
proportional in your arrangement.

Most plants need about 4-6" depth of soil for their
roots.

Shallower bowl-shaped pots are great for growing small
succulent arrangements in 2-4" soil depth.

Make sure your pots have a near-center drain hole .

Drain holes should be at least 1/2 inch wide.

Holes should be near center but do not need to be perfect.
Some misalignment is okay.

Just make sure the rod can be centered in the pot so that
the pot does not hang crooked.

Terracottta Pots

Most standard terracotta pots from your local nursery or garden center are mass produced with perfectly centered drain holes and will work great with SkyPots.

Off-center drain holes may cause your arrangements to hang crooked.

If your drain hole is large and a bit off-center, you can tighten your rod at the edge of the drain hole to make the rod more centered in the pot.
